Market Research

I have been especially caught up recently! To be more precise I've been unfaithful and have been writing another blog, for a market research company. Paid of course!
For a while now I've been blogging about my life and times in and around London. They're trying to prise from me any information that relates to the consumption of cider and lager (which is obviously what the market research is about). Luckily I am very partial to a larger or too! Cider I usually pass on...too sweet.
Market research companies hate actors. Fact. They wont use you if they're aware that you act. So for the blog I have been assuming my default role as a massage therapist in the health industry...which to be honest isn't that far from the truth.
I'm sure they think we actors pollute the data pool and taint their precious research. This is a lie. We still are people, we still have valid views, opinions and tastes. Yes we are good at lying and I will lie shamefully for a few folding notes...
I am still waiting for my cheque in the post. I wonder where it is? Hmmmm

Upside Down

Very chuffed indeed when I got confirmed for my next Ad. I knew when I was asked to hang upside down on a parallel bar in the casting that my training in Aerial Trapeze would come in handy!! Who Knew?? Smashed it!! Thank you very much!
So a little bit of a kick in the teeth when I got Bumped from being the 'Hero girl' to the Best Friend and seeing my pay-cheque slashed by 1/3.  But I put that down to my looking still about 18 years old (not in denial at all), and when you're advertising a product for the female menstural cycle I think it's probably best to have someone representing your brand who actually looks old enough to have a period 😮

Life's a Ball

The past few months I've spent battling 4am Calls, sickness and vomiting bugs whilst dressed in a Ball Gown, (the corset did not hug and caress my tummy like I foolishly hoped it would) and getting my hair frazzled with hot sticks.
I also saw my featured role in a Commercial diminish to featured extra before my eyes. Yes, that is my hand putting down that plate of Fish and Chips!! Believe me when I tell you that picking up and putting down a plate of food is definitely harder than it looks. Especially when it's shot in reverse!!!
'Before you put it down lift it up slightly, so that it looks like you're picking it up' the 1st AD says to me. WHAaaaaat???
The plate was greasy! The peas had to remain in place. And I had to put down the plate to look like I was picking it up!!?
Nightmare!!!
I did get a free manicure though. My hands looked the Bomb!!!

Extra Extra!!!!

I'm currently laid up in bed, Olbas Oil and Nasonex as my only companions, recovering from my first ordeal as a film extra, or 'Background' as we were affectionately labelled.
'Who in their right mind would choose do this?', I said to my equally bleary eyed looking make-up artist as we gossiped whilst eating greasy hash browns, as she applied the 3rd layer of foundation to my already suffocating pores.
This was 5am. I had woken from my warm bed at 2am having snatched a meager 4 hours sleep, which was a definite improvement from the previous nights 1.5 hour effort!!!
'My body doesn't let me sleep until 12am' I said as I weeped to my hair lady, as she curled my frazzled locks into hot sticks. I was crying out of tiredness, but my tears were mostly due to the headache behind my left eye caused by my jammed sinuses, caused by the previous 11 hour filming day, outside, in the wind, in a short sleeved corseted dress! I have a massive bone to pick with my met office iPhone app, that optimistically gave me and 18 Degree Celsius forecast! My goosebumps and blue lips begged to differ. I don't know what kind of Degree Mr. Celsius had!!
I honestly did not know how I was going to the last the day. Already I had been propositioned by a lovely man in a silver car, at 3am, whilst waiting for the night bus to take me into town for the coach pick-up. 'Do you want a lift' he so sweetly asked, as if sugar wouldn't melt. I replied with a devastated look, a violent shake of my head and a harder clutch to my rape alarm that my mummy had put in my stocking last Christmas :)
I was then nearly sick on the coach that picked us up at 4am, controlled breaths were the only thing keeping me together.
I was pretty much a mess until after I arrived on set. By then I had popped 2 hardcore painkillers and was feeling pretty good!!! Very good indeed!!
My ordeal however was alleviated by around 2pm! After I received a text from my Booker telling me that the rest of the weeks filming had been cancelled.
I was so happy I was almost crying...but then again I think that was the headache creeping back!
Maybe I'm not cut out for 'Backgroud Action'. That phrase will be haunting me for the rest of the week...until I have to go back and do it again!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Body Double

In a mass of Blondes I descended on a well known filming studio, the purpose and specifics of which shall remain vague and hidden, as we are contractually forbidden to divulge the secrets of our trade on any social media forum. Ooh Errr.
I can say that we were all sized up to be body doubles.
Very un-glamorous as this took place outside, surrounded by concrete. And although it was a gorgeous day, the chilly wind seemed to make our complexions fairer and our cheeks even rosier.
Unfortunately I was not called forth. My waist is not a tiny 24 inches, nor do I have breasts or hips. On this occasion I didn't meet the petite hourglass frame that they were seeking. So instead I sauntered back to town in my boyfriend jeans, apple in hand.
These androgynous hips don't lie ; )

Circus circus

This morning was my first class back at Circus Space after the summer holidays. Static Trapeze is my skill of choice : ) Sounds great right? I was very chuffed indeed that my hands have retained some resilience and didn't blister up after 5 minutes of skinning cats!! Thank heavens for Calluses. Never thought I'd say that.

So today I was sent to a casting for Fit Modelling. As an actor you must have many strings to your money-making bow ; ) Ironically you do not have to be 'Fit' for this type of modelling, aesthetically speaking or health-wise. They do ask you to be in proportion however, so whether you're a proportionate size 6 or 18 they'll love your bod!! 'This is so great' I thought, as I stripped to my undies and no longer needed to contract my abs to showcase my almost there 2pac shakur. Only then did I regret replacing my hearty morning porridge with 7 skin-on Almonds! It was 3pm, It's Autumn, and it was pretty cold in the little closet in which I stood, waiting to be measured.
Silly Amy. to remedy and to treat I quickly headed to my nearest coffee shop of choice, to warm up with my White Mocha and my Jumper and clothes well and truly on!
